Michael Keene, farmer, was familiar with the
concept of diversification, having turned a low-yield
area of his land into a profitable pay-and-play golf
course. He wanted to find an economic use for a
large group of buildings that were falling into disrepair
because his farming activities were focusing on fruit
production and not livestock.
Only a small percentage of the buildings were worthy or
attractive enough to retain. Vista's challenge was to secure
agreement to replace the derelict buildings with new on a site
in open countryside.
The LPA was persuaded by Vista's well-prepared and
professionally presented case, and consent was granted for
a four-phase scheme, which included the careful restoration
of an oak-framed listed hay barn.
All units on the business park are let and income-producing
